Mentari Teachers Academy is a teacher training centre under Mentari Group which currently focuses on three subjects; English, Mathematics, and Science. Mentari Teachers Academy was founded on the premise that the potential of teachers is an asset that needs to be continually developed in order to improve the quality of education. Mentari Teachers Academy believes that the learning process is an integral part of the professionalism of a teacher. In today's modern era, teachers are expected to be able to teach more creatively to meet the changing needs of students and align with the demands of teaching in the 21st century, focusing on teaching the 21st century learning skills of Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity.

Teacher Training Objectives

  • Improving the English-language ability of English teachers and non-English teachers who need to use English as the language of instruction in their classrooms based on international proficiency standards, with the option of taking official Cambridge Assessment English exams to objectively prove their competence.
     
    Improving the ability to teach and assess English at different levels with a variety of modern approaches, based on the Cambridge English Teaching Framework.
     
    Improving the ability to teach Maths following the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract Approach; starting with concrete ideas, followed by using manipulatives and then entering the abstract level to solve mathematical problems.
     
    Improving the ability to teach Science following the Inquiry Approach; inviting students to better understand the concepts of Science with their active participation. .
  • Sharpening English language communication skills for the classroom, particularly speaking.
     
    Improving English teaching skills by learning about and discussing multiple modern methods of English teaching,
     
    Improving Maths teaching skills by understanding the successful Singapore mathematical methodologies that have been tested and proven to be effective.
     
    Improving Science teaching skills by understanding the methodology behind the Inquiry Approach and the ways to teach Science according to the Singapore curriculum.
  • Deeping the knowledge of the English language in terms of vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, speaking and writing.
     
    Deeping the knowledge of English curriculum content, teaching methods and assessment tasks.
     
    Deeping the knowledge of Maths curriculum content and teaching methods.
     
    Deeping the knowledge of Science curriculum content and teaching methods.

Mentari Teachers Academy provides training programs based on Cambridge English standards
The purpose of English language training is to develop and improve English language fluency. Teachers, academic coordinators, or school principals are expected to be at the Intermediate level (on the CEFR scale*) as a minimum standard in the field of education.
 
Mentari Teachers Academy also apply the spiral progression and CPA approach for Maths training and the 5E approach for Science. Those approaches is well-known for the international standard.
